The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.

Do You Need A Doula?

BIRTH DOULA

Birth doulas offer continuous physical, emotional and educational support for mom and her partner throughout the labor and birth process in addition to prenatal and postpartum care. Women who have continual support from another woman have fewer requests for medications, half the number of cesarean births, higher breastfeeding rates and an overall higher satisfaction for the entire birth experience. As doulas we can help you to identify what is most important to you and your family. We do not take the place of your partner but enhance their ability to be even more present than without the extra hands and steady support.

Changes can be made to meet personal preferences. The most important thing to me is for you to have the birth you desire.
